Adjunct Assistant Professor

Nelson De Jesus Ubri is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia GSAPP as well as a real estate professional, architectural designer, and researcher. Nelson is a RETS associate at the New York City Economic Development Corporation, where he manages multiple real estate and economic development transactions for major NYC projects through detailed financial models, negotiation of contracts of sale and leases, as well as presenting to state and local elected officials and community stakeholders.

Nelson received a Master of Science in Real Estate Development and a Master of Architecture from Columbia University GSAPP. While pursuing both degrees, he worked at the Center for Spatial Research, conducting in-depth research using large databases such as US Census and NYT COVID-19 Data. He was also a teaching assistant for the GSAPP Visual Studies sequence as well as a research assistant.

Nelson is currently a part-time faculty at Parsons New School for Design. He is also a Youth Advocate at the Parsons Scholars Program, where he assists high school students with the college and financial aid process while they explore art and design through college-level classes.

Prior to getting his MSRED and M.Arch, Nelson worked at Daniel Goldner Architects, focusing on medical and office spaces. He was also a Fulbright Scholar in the Dominican Republic, where he developed research on how hurricanes affect the architecture and infrastructure of the Bani region in the southern area of the island. He is passionate about an interdisciplinary approach to architecture and real estate transactions that enables a deeper understanding of the built environment and communities around it.
