Babak Bryan

Babak Bryan is Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Intro to Architecture program at Columbia GSAPP; where he is the co-coordinator of the drawing curriculum.

Babak Bryan AIA, is a LEED accredited registered architect in the State of New York, with experience in building commercial, residential and institutional projects. He has a degree in Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and a Master of Architecture from Columbia University, Byran seeks to balance his professional practice between these two interrelated disciplines.

He has taught at the University of Pennsylvania and the City College of New York and also has been an invited guest critic at numerous other architectural schools. He continues to investigate the status of architectural drawing within the digital age and believes that without drawing there is no thinking.

Prior to his studies in architecture, Bryan was an engineer for Lockheed Martin in Orlando Florida. While having made a departure from his original field of study, he maintains his technological interests and seeks to constantly implement engineering principles in his architecture practice. With his LEED certificate, Bryan continues to pursue environmentally friendly design principles where ever applicable.

In the fall of 2011, he joined with Henry Grosman to form BanG studio. He is also, the architecture columnist for Complex Magazine's City Guide and is currently writing a book on the state of architectural drawing in the digital age.
