[PROJECT INTENT STATEMENT]

Affordability
In this project, I attempt to approach “affordability” in terms not only social ecology, but environmental as well. We have a clear definition of affordable housing with a social perspective— homes in which people use 30% of their income for housing. The quest for environmental value in architecture has been pertinent for centuries, and we need to adopt an approach with environmental perspective out of necessity.   In order for this housing to be affordable to the environment as well as to people, it should have sustainable building design and strategies both for the short and long term.

- Affordable housing with ENVIRONMENRAL PERSPECTIVE
With new perspectives on the prospect for the future, development of concepts for economic design should be asked to combine profit with environmental protection, especially in issues of energy consumption and efficiency. With this theme, this housing project goes with passive solar design using Ecotec program and has zoning plans that encourage people to use public transportation.

- Affordable housing with SOCIAL PERSPECTIVE
Are we dreaming of utopia in the epoch of  capitalism?
If If we let the affordable housing exist without assistance in the market, the price would be higher. How can we make up the price gap between market rate and affordable housing? This project focuses on energy consumption and recycling in New York City and makes plans for utilization of practical value from recycling. In addition, optional car pouches in units are expected to discourage automobile use and reduce carbon emission in this site. They will not only help bring about a future in which cars will not be used as transportation, but they will also help the present in terms of tax credits.
