Advanced CAD (Maya) FA03

This seminar will focus on the animation and visualization techniques to study the topology of architectural or abstract form. By incorporating analytical techniques into creative processes, designers can generate dynamic three-dimensional diagrams embedded with meaning prior to representation, giving rise to new possibilities for exploring form and space in both Euclidean and non-Euclidean systems. Examples of techniques to explore such an analysis will be shown throughout the semester. Students will be asked to choose a technique related to a topic demonstrated in class, or courageously attempt to develop their own.

Final Assignment

Transformations:
The final assignment is to create a 30-60 second animation that utilizes the tools we covered this semester in class including Advanced Modeling, Lighting, and various animation techniques. Students may use their model and environment for the first two assignments (please do not use Casa Gaspar) or something completely unrelated. The optional theme for the final assignment involves the development of a space or environment that goes through some type of animated transformation.

Assignment 1

hybrid industrial object/system
