Software used in the Fabrication Lab

RhinoCAM 2.0

a. Start Rhino 4.0 on a computer in 202 Fayerweather

1. In the pop up that says “Dongle Not Found” click OK

2. In following pop up RhinoCAM 2012 box, select far left option – FreeMILL. Then click Ok

3. In the Startup Template menu, select Small Objects –Inches. Press Open.
*It is very important that the Rhino units be set to inches, or else RhinoCam2012 will not start!!!

4. Click on the RhinoCam toolbar at the top, then click Register

5. In the RhinoCam 2012 pop up, in the text box under Detect Dongle, type in 128.59.128.21 - this is the IP address. Click “Detect”

6. You should now see values appear under Dongle ID, Code0, and Code 1. Close the window

7. In the command line, type Units. Verify your Model units are in Inches

8. In the command line, type RhinoCam2

9. A new tool bar called “Machining Operations” appears docked to your view port

10. In the Machining Operations toolbar, under the Program tab, double-click on the Machine icon

11. A Machine Tool Setup window will pop up. Under Machine Type, make sure 3 Axis is selected, then press OK

12. In the Machining Operations toolbar, under the Program tab, double-click on the Post icon

13. A Set Post-Processor Options window will pop up. Under Select Post Processor > Current Processor dropdown select TechnoIsel, then press OK

14. Now under the Program tab in the Machining Operations window the Machine should be set to 3 Axis and the Post should be set to TechnoIsel . You’re ready to go!

Mastercam 5X

1. Select Machine Type > Router > Manage List

2. Select TECHNO GENERIC 3X ROUTER.RMD-5 > Click Add and then OK

3. Select Machine Type > TECHNO GENERIC 3X ROUTER.RMD-5

The Machine Type TECHNO GENERIC 3X ROUTER.RMD-5 should already be included in the list manager on your computer. If this is not the case, please download the post processor from the Mastercam website at: http://www.mastercam.com/teachersstudents/educationaldownloads/Posts/Def...

Post processing in Mastercam X requires three files. Please download these files and place them into the proper folders.

C:\Users\Public\Documents\shared mcamx5\CNC_MACHINES
1) The Machine Definition (.RMD extension)
2) The Control Definition (.control extension)

C:\Users\Public\Documents\shared mcamx5\ROUTER\POSTS
3) The Post File (.pst file extension)
