Welcome to the official online exhibition of student work from the Historic Preservation program's studio sequence ... Each year, the faculty designates, to students in their first semester of the program, a particular portion of New York City as the study area. The end product of this year-long studio sequence is the creation of a preservation plan that addresses the significance, challenges, and recommendations for historic resources within the study area. Each preservation plan is a collaborative effort by the students, and is the result of two semester's worth of in-depth study and analysis of the study area's historic, architectural, and social characteristics.
The study area assigned to the students this year is the environs of the Harlem River (refer to the map below).
The goal this year was to create a comprehensive plan aimed at preserving the significant historic resources of the Harlem River.
