First Semester

A4510 Studio I: Understanding and Documenting Historic Architecture 6 pts.
A4124 Structures, Systems and Materials I 3 pts.
A6740 Theory and Practice of Historic Preservation 3 pts.
A6767 Preservation Planning 3 pts.
A4339 American Architecture and Urbanism before 1876 3 pts.

Required: Total 18 pts

Second Semester

A6750 Studio II: Planning for Historic Preservation 4 pts.
A6831 Structures, Systems and Materials II 3 pts.
A6727 Architecture of Additions 3 pts.
A4341 American Architecture after 1876 3 pts.
For conservation sector students:
A6764 Conservation Science with Laboratory 4 pts.
For non-conservation sector students:
Choose one conservation sector course during the next three semesters

Required: Total 16 pts. (non-conservation) or 17 pts (conservation)

Internship

Students are required to complete an internship during the summer between academic years, with a minimum of 6 weeks of paid work in some aspect of historic preservation. Students are responsible for securing internships but are assisted in this through the Historic Preservation Office. Internships must be approved in advance, and are recognized as completed upon receipt of a letter of evaluation from the internship supervisor sent directly to the Historic Preservation Office.
