Comparative Critical Analysis of Contemporary Built Form and Representation Instructor: Laurie Hawkinson T.A.: Thomas Hickey The seminar focused on the physical manifestation and representational systems in architecture. Through an array of readings and discussions the seminar developed the insights of students cognition to architectural strategy and delineation. With guest lectures including Bernard Tschumi, Stan Allen, Bill MacDonald, and Reinhold Martin, the class was introduced to a diverse magnitude of architectural paradigms. Using the lectures and reading, teams were presented with two buildings for analysis. The final project was to compare and explore a particular conceptual idea relative to the two buildings. Rather than presenting the comparative buildings as simply identifying facts like a tour guide, each team was to produce a "new project" through interpretive material.
